Artist Interview


- Where are you from?

Tokyo, Japan

- Where do you live, how long?

Back in Tokyo since last April. (2005)

- How did you start making art?

I can't remember...

- School or self taught?

I think both.

- Processes, ideas, or things that make you creative?

Bridging the gap between Japanese and American sub-culture. and merging it with my own vision of values based on a new set of information / facts.

- Who are your favorite artists?

There are so many...

Mark Rothko, Paul Klee, Alexander Calder, Reiji Matsumoto, Evan Hecox, Takashi Murakami...

- Favorite food?

Sushi, Tacos... there are so many... It's easier for me to name things that are not my favorite... like thick pizza, Jerry beans.

- Music you can't live without?

Always go back to Kruder & Dorfmeister and Tosca.

- Any hobbies?

usual stuff... I think. snowboarding?

- Shoe Size?

Biography

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Ogi received a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts (& Crafts) in 2003. He now resides in Tokyo. He has exhibited at Cowboys & Angels, Giant Robot, Andeken Gallery, and with the Sneaker Pimps global Sneaker Exhibition. Ogi has designed T-shirt graphics for Poketo and Android 8. His artwork is featured in the graphic art book "Io: Art of the Wired" and in "Evil Monito" magazine.
